Hi David,
I have two web pages for you the first only lists 8GR, but the second is more precise and actually lists the 2nd battalion. http://www.regiments.org/wars/20ww2/africa-n.htm gives the Battle Honour North Africa 1940-43 for the regiment. http://www.regiments.org/wars/20ww2/iraq.htm gives Iraq 1941 May 2-31 as a Battle Honour for 2GR8. I hope someone can give you something more.
Cheers John K

Staying with the Gurkhas, I have the 2/7th arriving in North Africa 26/05/42, as part of 21st Indian Infantry Brigade.
Does anyone have their movements before & after that date?

Thanks.
Thanks. Dave.

when 4th indian lost 4/11 sikh regiment and 1/6 rajputana rifles to 10th army in order that PAIFORCE might benefit from battle expreianced troops the divisional commander general Tucker made a strong plea for Gurkha units as replacement, he recieved 2/7 gurkhas under Luiet-col A W Orgill for 11 brigade in the canal zone and 1/2 Gurkha rifles under Lt-Col ).deT Lovett into 7 brigade. this happened in April '42
