I read where some of the crew of the HMCS Uganda in the summer of 1945 off the coast of Japan, wanted to be demobilized because they said they only signed on to fight the Germans. True?
This is a WW1 question, when the French Army "mutinied" there were some Russian troops, some say a regiment, some say a division, who were talking revolution so the French turned thier artillery on them and wiped them out. It seems hard to blieve thay could kill everyone seeing how a weeks bombardment on the Somme left plenty of Germans alive.
Anybody know if these stories are true or false ?
Need information

I'm off to look for the Angel of Mons now.
However, a bit of cross checking on facts indicate that the Russian claims of heavy fighting and glorious actions should be taken with a pinch of salt. Even if there was such a French fmn as the Moroccan Shock Division, Amiens is on the Somme and was part of the BEF sector in spring 1918. The German offensive, Plan MICHAEL, had been stopped at Hamel and Villers-Bretonneux on 4 April. The BEF doesn't seem to have noted anything significant in the area until the Australian attack in early July.
