While examining the official certificates for awards received by my wife's Onkel (adoptive father), I have encountered some abbreviations for which I require the meanings. These are:

1. His award (1 Sept. 1944) of "Das Kriegsverdienstkreuz 1. Klasse Mit Schwertern [The War Merit Cross 1st Class With Swords]" is signed by "Der Kommandierende General des XVIII (Geb.) Armeekorps m.d.F.b. [The Commanding General (of) the 18th Mountain Army Corps ...] - WHAT does "m.d.F.b." mean"?

2. His award (19 June, 1944) of "das Kraftfahrwahrungsabzeichen in Silber [the Vehicle Maintenance Badge in Silver]", under the official "Stempel [Stamp]" appears "blt.u.stv.Div. Adj." - I presume that this is some sort of approval or acknowledgement by the Division Adjutant.

Any and all assistance anyone can provide to increase my understanding will be greatly appreciated.
