Hi

I'd like to know some detail about this man, overall if it's possible to know his unit, campaigns were took part and which were his awards. Pic was probably taken in Italy between 1943 and 1945

any info is appreciated

Thanks

Lupo

Hello Lupo

His shoulder straps look to have a coiled serpent on them which would mean he was in a veterinary unit.
The left medal ribbon is the War Merit Cross 2nd Class with swords and the right one is the 1941/42 Ost Medal (Russian Front Medal).

May also be worth noting that the holes in his top left tunic pocket may imply he was recipient of an EK1 but has lost/removed it?

It might be for a wound badge or the riding badge. I don't think it is for the EK otherwise he would have the ribbon for the EK2.

Thanks Laurence,
Sorry, I did say "it implies" and was not specifically an EK. Just as likely to be a wound badge or some other type of war badge. It was just an interesting observation to see that something was missing.
