Which type of badge?

Post by Fox 2/23 »

hello,

What type of combat badge would an SS infantry trooper in an armored reconaissance unit be eligible to recieve? General, Infantry or Tank? I appreciate any information available on this.

Allgemeine Sturmabzeichen and other Heer-medals, also the Infanterie Sturmabzeichen in Bronze. The ASA could be numbered, 25, 50 or 100, I think that's about it.
Always in need for info about: Dutchmen in the NSKK, HJ and TeNo.

In the re-enactment unit I belong to, recce troops are issued with the Infanterie Sturmabzeichen in either silver or bronze. Apparently, the award could be any colour depending on availability!! (and that came from an SS-vet) @{

Let me guess, late war? As far as I know, the bronze variant was meant for soldiers who did attacks with armoured cars (not tanks), the silver one was for the foot soldiers.

Bronze was for motorized infantry....rode in the half tracks etc.
Silver was for the common foot soldier.
Had nothing to do w/tanks.
Only he is lost who gives himself up as lost.
