medal identifcation

my daughter found a medal that shows a soldier and angel on one side, a cross(maltese?) on the other, the date 1914, and the words furg daggerland. she is very curious as to what exactly she has and any information is appreciated. thanks

Here is some info:
"Furg Dagerland" could mean "Fuer's Vaterland"?
