German Cross in Silver - Help needed.

Post by fg82mot »

Hi.

I have a German Cross in Silver with an inscription on the reverse. Can anyone please help me identify who the original recipient was? The inscription reads

FP 4114
E.K.

Thanks in advance.

A Guess

Post by John W. Howard »

Hi Mike:
This is a guess, but I have a feeling the FP 4114 might stand for Feldpost Number 4114. This would give you the recipient's unit. The E.K. is a mystery to me. Paddy Keating is very good on these matters and if he does not post to help you, which he usually does, then send him a PM. You might make a separate posting on the Unit Histories, FpN's, etc. asking for an ID on Feldpost Number 4114. If such a number existed, then you may have the recipient's unit. Best wishes and Good Luck.

Can't help you with the FP Nr. but if you post pictures of the DKiS - or e-mail them to me - I will probably be able to tell you if it's okay.

German Cross in Silver
Please post pics as the silver is rarer than the German Cross in Gold.
I would love to see this one.

A local dealer by me has a German Cross in Silver. It looks basically the same, except for the fact that the oakleaves incircling the swastika are silver - not gold.

I personally think it looks better with the silver.
