Uniform Shades

Post by Hans Knospler »

Hey all

I've been debating this w/ myself in the search for a German SS uniform.

Were there different shades of the regular tunic for the SS? As in, for example, a European shade instead of feildgrau being less grey and more green? Thanks...

Hello

Of course all uniform pieces had different shades depending on quality, source, colouring, manufacturer etc.. of the fabric used.

for an example check out "About German Uniforms" at http://www.atthefront.com
near the bottem of the page where it says

Original uniforms, none of which match. The 4 on the right are all made in 1943.
If this is difficult to swallow, please call A.Speer at the Reich Economic office in
order to lodge a complaint. I'm sure that Deutsche Telekom in Berlin
information will be most helpful in locating his number!
lol love his rants

Yes At The Front is amusing! I do like his complaints about practically everybody turning up at 'tacticals' as members of the 506th PIR - outnumbering not only the Germans present but all the other American units too!
