W-SS wearing WH Panzer uniform?

Post by Helmut Von Moltke »

hi, I came across this rather strange picture of a Waffen-SS Panzer officer wearing a Panzer uniform with Heer Collar tabs. Does anyone have a explanation of this, was this rare, etc?

and by the way, here is information on the man:

Paul Egger
26.11.1916
Ritterkreuz am: 28.04.1945
Obersturmführer
1./schw.SS-PzAbt 502

Thanks for any help

Thanks TS allen.

yes, a WH cap eagle, but with the Totenkopf deaths head. I have seen quite a few pictures of W-SS troops someitmes using WH insignia when in shotages, etc.

And the picture is all very blury, maybe someone artificailly added them on, etc?

This photo is clearly doctored. You can see how amateurish the SS insignias are replaced in the photo by a computer edit. The original photo has normal SS insignias.

You are right Christoph, there are basic vauge backgrounds of the W-SS collar tabs in the picture.

Fallschirmjäger/Nick M., I saw it on a thread about W-SS RK holders in another forum, and was curious about the collar tabs.

Nice spot. Anyhow, I believe the cap death's head is actually a Wehrmacht Panzer Death's Head, but in the position for the W-SS.

Strange, because the cap does not look edited.
