Can anybody tell me what award is the "Deutsches Kreuz in Gold". What is it awarded for?

DK in gold

the DK were a stepping stone between the EK1 and the RK. They were awarded for bravery. They got them for doing something brave that was greater then the EK1 but did not meet the requirements for the RK
