Commissar D ~ the EviL - Immortalized in Song?

Post by Shadow » Tue Mar 16, 2004 7:19 pm

Greetings Troops! :D

Recently, your intrepid reporter, Samuel H.A.Dow, while researching vodka dealerships……..excuse me  …….VOLVO dealerships…, here in Moscow, unearthed this rare piece of WW II soviet sheet music…..titled:

“Ode to a Guards Tank Commander”!

The music looks suspiciously like that of “Lilli Marlene”!

Sing along, if you know the tune!

Just beside the Reich-stag
By the barrack gate
Commissar remember -
The way you used to wait
T'was there you whispered tenderly,
That you loved me,
You'd always be,
The lee-der of my tank corps
My own David – o – vich!

Time would come for roll call,
We soviets must part,
Darling I'd caress you
And pray your tank would start
And there b'neath that far-off lantern light,
I'd hold you tight,
We'd kiss good night,
The lee-der of my tank corps
My own David – o – vich!

Orders came for Stalin,
Somewhere over there
You confined to barracks
Was more than I could bear
I knew that you'd be waiting, yep - for real
Sti-le-toe heels -
Know how that feels!
The lee-der of my tank corps
My own David – o – vich!

Resting in your panzer,
Far behind the lines
Even though' we're parted,
Your lips are close to mine
You wait where that lantern, by the bar,
“D” – Comm-i-ssar
He won’t go far
The lee-der of my tank corps
My own David – o – vich!

The rest of the copy is too smudged with rouge and lipstick to be readable!

I wonder if this song was written by a poor, young, impressionable, communist cutie, for our own beloved “Commissar D ~ the EviL”, of Forum Hero fame?

Reporting from Moscow……hiccup!.....

I should have you shot!

…..hang on – just making out a few more words:

Underneath the covers,
Medals, two or three.
Commissar you know that -
You’re sticking it to me!

……hum….
nope – everything’s getting blurry again!

Or maybe that’s just this reporter!

OH

I can make the whole stanza out now !

Underneath the covers,
Medals, two or three.
Commissar you know that -
You’re sticking it to me!
Wish you’d left your garters, by the sink -
Where they’d not shrink -
You rotten fink!
The lee-der of my tank corps
My own David – o – vich!

.... v e r y....interesting!

Ah, please stop, my Shadowy friend, it was indeed a sad, sad story and the memeorie it brings back are equally sad.
Perhaps, next week I can tell it.
I can only say that a Tank Man can never go to sea, it is not in his nature and his power ends where the first wave begins.
It was by sea that I lost her. As she held my heart captive, so too did the Nazi beasts hold her captive and as we over-ran Ost Perversia, they sought to take her back to Germany aboard the S.S. Grosse Herring, a passenger ship.
I think we are all familiar with the Grosse Herring's terrible fate, that winter of early 1945....

And a most sad tale I'm sure it was !

But - I'm having such a hard time (sounds like you did also!) getting that melody out of my head..........

Oh well!

I'm sure the true story of what that brave tank commander, we all know and love, (some, more than others, if the song is correct!) was really doing during his stay in Berlin, other than running up the Reichstg steps with a flag in one hand and his............never mind!

Well, all I can say now was that we were rolling up the Nazis and killing them by the fistful. They scrambled to hop on to anything that floated to escape us. Shattered units, civilians, "Golden Pheasants" and all of their noxious apparatchiks fled before us.
The Kriegsmarine sent the Grosse Herring to evacuate them from Effluvia, a port in Ost Perversia. As a sort of escort they sent U-69, Capitain zur See Count Pierce von Brosnan's infamous boat, known as "U-Booty" to the English.
My Tank Corps was closing in on Effluvia and we were determined not to let any Perversians and Effluviants escape, so we contacted Commissar Fridolinev who sent a pair of submarines to stop them.

I'm sorry, the memories are hard to face even after all of these years. That is all I can say tonight.

AHA! My silly fiends! I mean Friends!!

It's good to see that it's business as usual.

Kommissar, are we still meeting at the 'other' place? I have lost the link and hoped you could PM it to me??

Cheerio
You need to take a good hard look at yourself in the mirror, and give yourself an uppercut!

Which "other" place?

If it's the one I'm think of - PM me and I'll send it to you - if Commissar hasn't already!

Yes, a swelled soviet head is a hard thing to imagine!

Oh, by the way.........on the back of the "Ode to a Guards Tank Commander" music, I found a scribbled chorus of that classic Red Army Xmas carol.........

Jingle bells
Stalin tells
David’s gone away
Gone to fight the panzer tide
And keep the tanks at bay!

Didn't know you were quite so popular back in that small soviet satellite section of "Ost Perversia"........
