Years ago I used to subscribe to an informative little magazine called AFV/G2. It was a small monthly magazine just packed with Armor facts at a time when I was just getting into military history. Rather abruptly I stopped getting them and was told they had gone belly up. Recently I read an article and this magazine was mentioned in passing and I got the impression it might still be around. Does anyone know about this and if it is still around, how do I get in touch with them.
I really enjoyed the magazine and I still have all the old editions from the 1970's.

Hi Helmut, I think you're mistaking two armor magazines. "AFV-G2" went out of business in the late 80s. It had a printed cover, the pages were 11 1/2" by 7" and it was published out of California.
This magazine was, I believe, a spin off or at least inspired by, AFV News.
"AFV News" is a quarterly magazine that consists of folded over 11 1/2" by 7" sheets and is published out of Canada. "AFV News" is still around and has a website--George Bradford used to publish it, I think his son or son-in-law does now. Here's the site:

I am still unable to log on to the site but I'll ceratinly try after things settle down a bit in the Northeast.

Could there have been 2 magazines named AFV/G2 since I subscribed to it in 1972-'81, when I stopped receiving copies? I thought it was an excellent magazine for the time.

Hi Helmut, no, I think we're talking about the same one.
Armor magazines were in very short supply back then and your time frame is right. The way the owner of this magazine distuinguished it from AFV News was by adding the "G-2" to the title. I've heard this ticked the publishers of AFV News off to no end and I can't remeber another magazine with this title.
AFVG-2 was a numbered magazine, that is, each issue was labeled with the Volume and Issue number. I think it closed out at Vol. 6 Issue 11. As I recall, each volume was a different year and each year had 12 issues. The magazine closed down while the Cold War was still in effect and I remember it was one of the first, if not the first, to do a photo study of the interior of a T-62 turret.

I have 47 early issues of AFV-G2, 84 early issues of AFV News and 65 issues of AFV/Weapons Profile.
I am looking for a non-profit organization in the US where they would be available for future readers.

Alternatively, I would seek to sell them.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
