Draft exemptions during time of war...

Post by L. Kafka » Wed Sep 05, 2012 11:27 am

I've heard of all sorts of reason for draft exemptions during wartime from student deferments to strategic skills exemptions, but I never knew until recently that there was an exemption for pulling missionary duty during wartime. In regard to the U.S., I wonder if there was a draft exemption for missionary duty during all wars where a draft was in effect.
"What are they going to do, send me to Vietnam?"
A oft heard GI refrain in Vietnam in '68.
