I raised it in a discussion with some fella U.S. Marine vets but can't remember the title. Something about "clamshell" in the title, I think. Royal Marines go ashore in small boats. It's a '50s or '60s movie. Title, bitte.

Mostly likely you're thinking of Cockleshell heroes with the late great Trevor Howard. Made in 1955.
