The Commissar truly believes that death is an appropriate sentence for certain crimes, yet he also believes that, as a sentence of the State, it is also barbaric.

An interesting dichotomy, but very true. When should a Nation-State sanction death as a penalty dir a crime?

When should the free-born citizens of a State sanction DEATH as an appropriate penalty for a crime? I don't know...... :( :( :( Do You!???

What if the actual "shooter" turns "State's Evidence" against his getaway driver, does the driver deserve the Death Penalty, while the shooter gets life imprisonment????

In America, the penalty often is determined by the criminal who rats' out the other one first, regardless of their actual roles in a Capital crime.

Bestens.

David

To me the proper punishments are the death penalty (with caveat that I don't trust govt much who administers it), beatings, and restitution.

I think jails are a terrible idea - barbaric hell holes that function as a school for crime where gang activity festers.

My way would probably require more hangings (initially).

Sadly I'm not sure this could work in our present degraded society.

cheers

Well, since the ones making the rules are in many cases the most eligible, it might not go over too well....
