Close Combat series

Post by charlie don't surf »

This is my all-time favourite strategy game! Personally I prefer Close Combat 2: A Bridge Too Far due to that one can decide over supply.

Close Combat 5

So, what do you think?

The whole series has been great, good attention to detail, good playability, good game effects.
In the battle between good and evil, evil usually has more fun.

It's not without a couple of glitches, but overall, my favorite series too.

If you have CC5, I recommend the Gold-Juno-Sword Mod.

This is a complete re-do of the game from the strat map down to new units. Really well done.

Close Combat is a great game, GJS made it even better. With all the mods and extra maps out there you can not go wrong with this series.
I prefer CC3 out of all them because of the reqresition screen

GI Combat looks fantastic! Out next month, unless it gets delayed again.

November is going to be an expensive month, Band of Brothers DVD, GI Combat, and MOH:SPEARHEAD.

I don't like the name G.I. combat, close combat is more neutral, the name suggests that it only deals with us forces. I would like to see more games with commonwealth troops instead.

It is not another Close Combat though. I believe that only one key person from the Close Combat series is involved with this project. I agree that there should be more commonwealth and allied forces. Where are the Canadians? Where are the French and Polish? They all had significant roles to play in the battle for Normandy.

I liked the CC series, but was disappointed in the Eastern front one. When a Panther engages a T-34 at point blank range with a dead on flank shot and it doesn't penetrate (and similar - happened regularly), I figured Stalin had screwed up the penetration tables.

I didn't like how Shermans were taking out my Panthers on the first shot.

Actually the Microsoft patch does not correct such errors. If you know of a different patch from an enterprising soul, I'd like to know the website.

...and a merry regards to you too.
