The ultimate Feldgrau World Cup Thread!

Post by M.H. »

Only few hours now and an elite storm troop of the Germans will fight against an invading special force from Costa Rica! @{

Any Bets? :D

PS: The german formation is handicapped since their leading officer, the fabulous and much vaunted Michael Ballack will probably stay at the HQ due bad health... :(

PPS: Field Marshal Klinsmann knows what he does...I hope....

ah, if the Germans win in this match, will the German anthem be played? :D Or not, due to... political correctness? Anyway, can't wait to watch! :D

No Helmut....in the coming weeks lot's of national anthems will be played...nothing "political incorrect" about that! :D

(But I've heard that the FIFA High Command forbid our brave Bundeswehr to play them life, on the field. They trained hard and play them very well but the FIFA said: "Only from tape!" :? Bummer! )

Congratulations Deutschland! :D

Nice first victory over Costa Rica...4-2! Hopefully you will not meet Sweden to early in the tornament so that your man Klose will get a reasonable chance to climb on the top-scoring ranking...

No....I don't know (and I think only the FIFA knows)...
Did you know that we prepared a great opening ceremony for months for several million Euros and that shortly before the start the FIFA said NO?
Just No! So what you saw today in Munich was the rest of it.... :?

Anyway...now the biggest football party has started! :D

Question:

I notied that both Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski were born in Poland, Oppeln and Gleiwitz respectively. Yet they both play for Germany. Are they/do they consider themselves as Volksdeutsche or are they Polish? Has either ever spoken about this?

And with all due respect ,I understand that Asaboah is NOT a Volksdeutche! :D

CONGRATS to Ecuador!!!! :D
The first big surprise!

(Now the Poles will be fight extra hard against Germany since it's their last chance...)

PS: I've read somewhere that Poldi's father was named "Waldemar"...not a polish name if you ask me... :[]

Quite common Polish name. It comes from Germanic language group, but it is used quite often in Poland.See also Jadwiga for example.
Are they/do they consider themselves as Volksdeutsche or are they Polish?
Why should they ? Milions of Poles live in region of Opole and Gliwice. You think everybody born there is faced with such identity crisis ? :D
I don't know about Klose, but Podolski underlined several times that Poland is his homeland and that he speaks in Polish with Klose on the field.
