Hmmm....a B-25J belonging to 12 Air Force flying over the Gulf of Naples. A plane not assigned to any Bombardment Wing or Group that flew no missions.....according to the allknowing http://www.(...).comnetorg :?

I suppose I should thank you for this clue Krollspell but frankly I don't know what to do with it  .
I've run some famous 12 Air Force gents through the net but nothing that seems useful has popped up so far. Craw, Doolittle and half a dozen others, even old Billy Mitchell himself.....ingenting, intet, skvatt :!:

Search goes on.....after football :D

Best regards,

Paul

The Bay of Naples, yes! But the B-25 do have some rewarding insignia... So, there are actual clues in there but the ingenting, intet, skvatt is as good as it is wrong Paul! :D

Hehehe... Il Bigfoot!

ORANJE 4 - France 1! What a match!
Italy only got a 1-1 draw against Romania... NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
Wonder what the two mystery men would have thought of that!?

We sure look like a great Nordic double-pair, eh Doktor! With only slight resistance from Paulus II/John W. Howard so far! :D

So what do we have so far... here and somewhere else!

First:
A pre-war image taken in 1938 somewhere far from home with a young man (no Greek or Turkish involvement!).
A white, tropical uniform with a crown and eagle, wings on his chest and stars on his collars.

Second:
As Paul has already stated: "A B-25J belonging to 12 Air Force flying over the Gulf of Naples" with a WWII slogan painted across the wings! And it ait' "ingenting, intet, skvatt"!

Question is: Would a "scooter" have been more appropriate? 8)
Thanks to Doktor Krollspell for image!

Third:
A good image of our young Mediterranean riddle-man being decorated by the "Big man" himself!

Oh!
Almost forgot the Doks beautiful "would be" daughter-in-law! (sorry Doktor not yours, dream on!) :D
The executed brother-in-law / son-in-law!
The widowed sister / daughter!
Jazz music!
Love & Hate movies!
and "own goal"! (but how is this possible in a double-riddle match) :?

What did I miss out? The Mediterranean wife & mistress!
Who can resist beautiful women, eh!?

Mediterranean regards

Hello John!

Romano Mussolini was born in 1927 and could hardly have worn an officer uniform during his father's reign of power. After a long career as a Jazz musician he died in 2006 as the last surviving child of Benito Mussolini. And yes, he was married to the sister of Sophia Loren! But the Sophia Loren clue in the WWI Quiz thread was just a mean to solve the "Benito Mussolini in WWI" quiz!

It's not everyday that you see a photograph of a Jazz musician playing the piano with a picture of Il Duce on it! Follow the source link for a short introduction of Romano Mussolini...

Fame of his own … Romano Mussolini playing piano for his sister, Anna Maria, in 1962.

So, who is Waleed's Mystery man in the FFPR thread sporting around in a fascist Italy uniform :?: You're very close...

No need for "A or B half" Doktor, we are a Double! :D
Nice picture(s), Romano and Anna Maria, Il Duce AND pilot 8)

Yes John, very close indeed, in winning the first "double" (as you've already solved 1/2)

Absolutely LAST clue (from me!): The ill-fated "Scooter" in which he (the pilot) was killed!

I'm off to Leardal in Sognefjorden, Norway and will not be back before next weekend or so.
So I'm leaving all riddle-solving to fellow riddler and "double partner" Doktor Krollspell (as he knows the answers). :D

Will be back with fresh riddles soon.

Best regards

Pining for the fjords, are we Waleed?

I will take care of this riddle while you're on leave and I do hope that someone will solve it before you get back!

Have fun in Norway,

OK!! Our mystery man is not Romano Mussolini, but Bruno, who was killed in an airplane crash while piloting his P 108 Bomber during a test mission.

Splendido John!

Waleed's Mystery man was indeed Bruno Mussolini (1918-1941), the second son of Benito Mussolini. Bruno was a Captain in the Italian Airforce and died on August 7, 1941 while piloting a Piaggio P108, Italy's only heavy strategical bomber during WWII. Here's a photograph on a P108 and the source link to a website with some good information in this interesting aircraft.

I'm back! Had a wonderful week in the "Norwegian Alps". :D
What a country and landscape! Coming from the lowlands of Denmark, anything over 170 meters is HIGH!
so walking around the mountains in 200-500 meters height and higher with mountains around you up to 1000 meters was fantastic and knowing the Fjord is as deep as the mountains are high is incredible!
Found (followed the marked path) a WW2 German observation post which I photographed. Not much to see but will post pictures as soon as I have processed the images.

Back to the riddle... Correct John! Bruno Mussolini as my partner has already answered.
