...whom the Nazis offered to ransom, and were told to "feck off" I believe? Jakob later died in a concentration camp.

Hehehe, what a fight between Pro Riddlers! :D

And I must give the victory to... Paul! It's indeed Yakov Dzhugasvili, son of Josef, the Man of Steel.

Sorry Phylo... Stalin's brother: no!, Stalin's relative: yes!, Stalin's son: yes! The name of the Son...?

Here's some other photographs (all from http://www.corbis.com). Apparently the US held information about Jakob's death secret until the late sixties... The last picture showing the supposed corpse after being murdered or commited suicide "by guard". There is also rumoured that the germans tried to prison exchange Stalin's son against GFM Friedrich Paulus after the defeat at Stalingrad but that Stalin refused with the words "why change a soldier with a Field Marschall"...

Thank you Krollspell.

Indeed a simple a riddle it was but stille it managed to confuse someone :D

Now after all those black and white photo's showing either weary people or metal machines I think it's time for something more colourful and cuddly. To begin with at least.

There is a connection between this building:

and one of these animals:

Find the connection..............and win the riddle :!:

Have fun,

Paul

:D Would that be "Voytek, The Iranian Soldier-Bear"?

Found this by entering Monte Cassino and Bear into google...
BANG! The Iranian Soldier-Bear of Monte Cassino!

And here's an interesting Polish site!

Yup, that's the one Waleed.

Your second source is the one I used.

Not to difficult this one but I thought it would be fun in its own way. Poor thing ended it's days in the Edinburgh zoo. One source mentions it usually kept away from the public except when it's former comrades in arms came to the zoo and spoke Polish too it.

May I add that the first to solve this riddle wasn't you but the 'Great Phantom Riddler' :D , a man to busy to really participate but does do the odd bit of riddlesolving! 8)

Anyway...over to you Waleed!

Cheers,

Paul

Thanks Paul & Google! :D

Too bad I'm up against the "Great Phantom Riddler" though... :(

Here's another easy one. Who is this officer?

Hint: something to do with... BIG BANG!

LMAO I don't think Waleed had the sort of "banging" the Kennedys are famous for in mind when he came up with that clue, however!!!

No! Not that sort of BANG at all :D :D
- although they were known for it!

Yes, Lt. Joe Kennedy Jr. is correct. Blew up in a PB4Y Liberator
together with John Willy and 21,150 lbs of Torpex
US Radio-controlled Big Bangs. Not a success though!

Okay...cracks knuckles...its taken me a LONG time to find this picture....

The grinning man in the middle invested one of WWII's most "legendary" weapons. He received a royalty for each one produced, thousands of them....but in the end saw very little profit. Then again, he hadn't done it for the money....

Who is he?

TWO verbal clues....

Does anyone recognise the location? it's one of the most famous "military" and "sporting" locations in the world....

Does anyone recognise the awards on his blazer?
