Ok Waleed, here's a first guess then...

It's Walter Frentz, once one of Leni Riefenstahl's main photographers (Olympia) and during the war somewhat of Adolf Hitler's court photographer.

Or...?

Or...!

Not Frentz, actually wrong country too!

Some help - One of his own pictures:
Image

It is the first day of the war in the X.
"Somebody's" announcement of the Y
invasion of the X was broadcast by
Radio Z on loudspeakers,
xxxx/xx/194x.

Figure out where X and Z is,
what Y is and when all the small x's are
and you'll have his nationality:D

waleed

ps. The Somebody's name was/is also
part of a "nordic type of drink"

I know the picture, citizens listening to the announcement of the German invasion of Russia. Announcement by Molotov if I remember correctly.

But the photographer? Don't know yet but will know soon :D

If only I knew some "Nordic Drinks" :( . All I can think of are Vikings drinking mede from their enemies skulls.

Ah, misread that about the Nordic Drink. Not about the photographer but Molotov's favourite cocktail :D

Correct Paul!

Molotov Cocktail, Finnish invention, "Nordic drink"... Correct! :D

And it is:
The first day of the war in the USSR. Molotov's announcement of the German invasion of the Soviet Union was broadcast by Radio Moscow on loudspeakers, June 22nd 1941
Who took the picture?
Here he is again in 1996 with his Leica, a year before he died.
Image

This "royal" pillar (as it having a crown at the top and built in
a time of an emperor) played a major part of his most famous
picture... which picture, when, where?
Image
Recent image of an old pillar, one of many.

Should be pretty easy now. So no more quotes, clues and pictures!

Well, well, well...

This famous photographer is none other than Yevgeny Khaldai, who was a Red Army photographer during WWII. His most famous wartime photograph (one of them anyway) is without any competion...

Here's a good photograph of Khaldei at work during the Nuremberg trials. He's posing next to Hermann Göring who clearly did not want to be in the same picture... The source link also provides a short and good bio on Khaldei.

Well done Doktor

Sorry Paul, should have stayed at home, eh! :D

Well as stated by Herr Krollspell it is the Russian photographer Yevgeny Khaldei .

Best known (not by name) to most if not all of us for his famous "Reichstag Red flag" picture.

Doktor, you have posted the "unedited/original" image of the event.
The difference is no smoke in the horizon and right arm of the officer
holding his comrade...
The officer appears to be wearing two  watches.
Some claim it could have been a compass... anyway it was removed
for political reasons I guess.

He took A LOT of pictures at Nürnberg, if interested have a look through

Over to you Doktor.

Very fast indeed Phylo! :D But unfortunately it's wrong! @{

It's not Stalin's brother that amuses the Luftwaffe officers...

A bit too early for new clues,
