Re: Feldgrau Forum Photo Riddle ?
OK! Let's start nice and easy, just one image for now.
And a few facts: A soldier, born in Prussia. Career included arts, merchandizing, marketing, export, managing and much more. Passed away in 1992.
His father and father-in-law fought on opposite sides in WWI. Father killed in 1917.

Re: Feldgrau Forum Photo Riddle ?
So, tuesday and still no closer to any answers/questions. Too though, eh?
Let's simplify the clues then with this image:
I don't think it's Mr. X standing on the tail. The plane though is a VERY good lead!

Re: Feldgrau Forum Photo Riddle ?
So, here we go again...
The last photograph is of the Tail part of a Me Bf 110 with an (American?) service man standing on top.
The Eight Sunday clues are...
The Blue nails shows an American B-24 "Liberator" Heavy bomber of WWII vintage, the present-day Flag of the Republic of South Africa and a set of Obergefreiter Sleeve chevrons.
The red nails holds two photographs from the Walt Disney Wolrd Resort in Orlando, Florida and shows the Cinderella Castle and the Spaceship Earth in the Epcot theme park.
Hmm... Disney... Space... Wernher von Braun...
I'll be back,

Re: Feldgrau Forum Photo Riddle ?
Oh Dear - Herr Doktor!!! a Bf 110???
This looks like the Return of Martin Monti, our old Picture Puzzle friend, in some way - or at least his aircraft For that is at a guess his P-38 he defected to the Germans with. I presume the American serviceman standing on the tail is standing on the tail of the P38 at Schoengau, Austria, in May 1945, where advancing American forces happened across it, after some service with Wanderzirkus Rosarius...where it had been wearing the number T9+MK
Any chance our relaxed LW friend is Theodor Rosarius???

Re: Feldgrau Forum Photo Riddle ?
A P-38 Lightning... Darn... All work and no play makes the Doktor a dull boy...
I don't think our Man of Mystery is Theodor Rosarius though... First, Rosarius was an Officer who at least reach the rank of Hauptmann and furthermore had somewhat more hair on his head!
I will weep
I will drink
I will get even
I will get back

Re: Feldgrau Forum Photo Riddle ?
AK! Correct phylo and well spotted, and for the old picture puzzle person... Motti also well remembered. Yes he stole a P-38. But what happened to him? For your information, go to pages 41-42-43 for the Motti riddle
Correct Doctor, not Rosarius (not on the tail of the Bf-110 either )
Mr. X rose from private to Obergefreiter during WWII. Actually amazing taking his reputation into consideration... (yes! a hint )
Some of the pins (I'm sorry if they look like nails ) have been answered correctly.
Blue: An American B-24 bomber. I'll settle for American here.
South Africa - his home before the war and for a few years after too. Also where he met his English wife (daughter of a WWI RFC pilot) before returning to Germany.
The sleeve chevron - yes his last rank as stated above.
Red: Orlando, Disney Worlds "Earth" and especially Cinderella buildings are important although nothing to do with Wernher or Walt as such or space.
For the other pins... One is a capitol building, one a college and one a City Hall
Sunday was a mosaic of images, today a mosaic of information. Sorry, no more for now - will be back soon.

ps. You can weep - you can drink - you can return... but will you get even

Correct! That's the city hall.

...and not an imitation Stauffenberg to be seen!

Re: Feldgrau Forum Photo Riddle ?
San Fracisco City Hall . Looks a lot more like the City Hall of "El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles de Porciuncula" aka L.A.
The Capitol is probably Utah State Capitol.
Then.....a college with what appears to be large mural/mosaïc....still searching

Battle of the city halls!
Yes Paul, L.A. City Hall. Phew! Thought I'd stuck the pin in a wrong city for a moment.

Probably because he's been beamed to L.A....and not an imitation Stauffenberg to be seen!

Re: Feldgrau Forum Photo Riddle ?
No worries Waleed But that does mean that it is not Utah State Capitol but rather the one in Sacramento Ca.
So the mural thing is probably in Utah........if you got that pin right
Paul
