Lena Wurtmuller's "Seven Beauties" is one of my favorite movies. It is a theater of the absurd for the what G. Ginacaro(sp) has to go through. He ends up in a German POW camp where he is seduced by a fat female prison commandant. Ouch
Slaughterhouse Five is another good offbeat war movie.
Critics panned Catch-22, but years later it evolved into something of a cult classic.
And yours?
Offbeat WWII theme movies...

Making of Catch-22...
Is this in a DVD version of Catch-22? I have the VHS version of Catch-22.
I saw the movie in 1970 when it came out. I read the Joseph Heller novel soon after.
I was in the Marines in Vietnam and then a career city firefighter after for 25 years and saw a number of personalities that fit into the theme of Catch-22 many times.

yeah I've seen Europa Europa its definatley a very interestingley shot film still and all I did'nt think it was really all that bad. I've always found the Novel of catch 22 to be far superior to the film sadly, I just don't think they can carry off the humour quite as sucessfully on film

Hello Stalingrad!
Yes, these books are written by the german author Hans Hellmut Kirst. The book "Fabrik der Offiziere" is one of my favorite Kirst titles and the 08/15 triology are classical! Most of Kirst's WWII-related books are a good read. He also wrote a lot of police thrillers in the sixties and seventies that I think are somewhat dated today.

"What Did You Do In the War, Daddy?"
This movie stars one of my favorite whacky actors, Dick Shawn.
American and Italo soldiers become allies.
Good flick to watch over drinks with friends.
