Prosper Vandenbroucke: thank you for your help. I read as much as I could understand on the internet in English, French and Flemish about this militia but what I was really looking for was the reason this military arm of the Flemish Front(V.N.V.) was created in the first place. Could you possibly tell me why? It would be greatly appreciated.

A board was founded in 1933 on the 30th of january,the same day the nsdap took over germany,this was no lucky date,but all organised :-),their goal was to find funds to gather all the flemish minded parties into 1 big partie the v.n.v.,they had the same antisemist policy as the nsdap,and wanted the dutch or flemish speaking countrys to be 1 big country,to fight against economic andpolitical liberalism,the marxists....they wanted an independant flanders,still today there is such a controversial political partie,with the 1936 elections in belgium the vnv and rex partie dhad big succes,so big that they joined forces and fight for an federalised belgium hand in hand.....the vnv frontman staf de clercq would openly welcome the german innvaders in 1940 as he presented the ntional socialistic movement of flanders...no more explanaition needed :-)

What was the reason that the SA excisted, they had to protect the meetings and gatherings and were political soldiers.

The Dietse Militie / Zwarte Brigade had the same duties. During the war it was a recruitment pool for volunteers.
