Latta Organization

Post by hist2313 »

Hello:

Anyone have any good info (in English) on the Finnigh "Latta?" I think Latta is the name--the female auxillary organization during the Talvisota and the Continuation war.

Thanks in advance

Hello Gentlemen!

Here's a very good portrait photograph of the wartime leader of the "Lotta Svärd" organization, Mrs Fanni Luukkonen.

???

Marttaliitto was founded in 1899, over 20 years before Lotta Svärd. And members of Marttaliitto certainly aren't used in aerial observation duties, field hospital auxiliaries etc. like the Lottas were in the wartime.

No Mikko, you're right.

What I meant was, Martat continues legacy of lottas in a way that women give something to sociaty.

Martat gives easy made food teaching, handy tricks for doing household things.

And in Lotta organisation were alot of Martta members.

In a sovinist way, they both help men to do their job.
