Post by La Division Azul Espanola »

I just wanted to find out if there were any Spanish volunteers stationed in Holland with the SS during Operation Market Garden. Thanks in advance.

Hiya - Hola

Am looking for the reference but am sure that I recently read of Spaniards on, I think, Vlieland Island circa 1945....?

Whether these were political prisoners / forced labourers or German Army volunteers I can't say. Will keep looking.

To the best of my knowledge there were NO Spanish volunteers in action against the Allies during market garden. I was a dispatch runner at the time, and probably would have heard about them, or even might have delivered message to their C.O.

For any interesting tidbit,

there were several Spanish volunteers in the 17th Luftwaffe Field Division during Battle of Normandy
