unidentified unit

On 1943 was in Kuressaare (Arensburg) in Estonia unit which named:
"SMT bataillon". Can anyone tell me which unit this was. I must say that i don't know is SMT in Estonian or in german language, but let's guess that this was in german. Thank's by advance.
