Hi there,

all I found in 10 minutes search was this page which seems to be from a re-enactment group, although the info looks okay. http://www.adeq.net/unitvolk.htm.

On http://www.amazon.de you can find 'So fiel Königsberg' by Otto Lansch, a detailed account by an eyewitness. It seems to be only available in German, but you may find it in translation somewhere on the Net.

Happy hunting!

To help with the map, here's a translation of the legend underneath, from left to right and top to bottom (if you need it):

Front line 6 April

Railguns /artillery KBF (Königsberg Front?)
???

First position
SEcond position
Third position

Forts
Front line at breakout (?) 8 April
9.iv.45 Surrender of enemy forces.

I'll check the ??? tonight as I don't have access to a Russian dictionary at the moment.
Regards

Gia sou,

The reason you can't access the site is because I mistyped it!! :( Sorry. It should be html at the end; If you still have problems, mail me.

To complete and correct the translations:

??? = outer defensive line
Frontline at breakout should in fact be "front line at the end".

Hope this helps a bit more.
Regards

Konigsberg Book

Post by hans becker »

I have a book in English titled 'East Prussian Diary' by Count Hans von Lehndorff published by Oswald Wolf (Publishers) Limited, London, 1963 which gives a good account of the siege of Konigsberg and the struggles in that region 1945 -1947. I hope it helps.

"The Fall of Berlin 1945" by Antony Beevor has a lot of info on East Prussia and Koenigsberg.
