Tony,

Bernard Vanden Bloock has an excellent site on the Belgian Fortifications on May 10, 1940:

Mr. Vanden Bloock also references the Eben-Emael offical website:

Hello to all :D; a complement..................................

The ground attack on Eben Emael in May 1940.

The war correspondent reported: At dawn at around 05:00 hours, airborne troops managed to conquer the upper esplanade of Fort Eben Emael. The works (casemates) of this platform suffered serious damage. I located myself with my camera in the Command Post G of Oberstleutnant (Hans) Mikosch on the left bank of the Albert Canal. The works W1 and W2 located at ground level still were firing. These should be silenced. From W1 the crossing over the canal is dominated and from W2 the open terrain on the other side of the canal. At dusk, the first group of sappers P with pneumatic boats began to cross the channel .................................................
