D-Day , How long did the Germans have to win ?

Post by citadel »

A purely hypothetical question, but if Rommel had access to the Forces at Calais & if he could have thrown everything at the Allies immediately or shortly after Overlord, how long would he have had to "Drive them back into the sea" befor the Allies had overwhelming numbers in Normandy. A week or maybe less ? Just wondering on your thoughts ... Cheers .

He would even have no day, not one hour, because
1 The forces of the Pas de Calais were useless in Normandy, because they were qualitatively and quantitatively weaker than the forces in Normandy who were weaker than the Allies .
2 It was logistically impossible to transport the PdC forces to Normandy on D Day .
3 Thus they had to be in Normandy before Dday ,but without them , the Allies would land easily on the Pas de Calais .
To summarize :
The Allies had category A forces
The Germans had category B forces in Normandy and category C forces on the Pas de Calais .
B and C could not win against A .
