ready for combat (in German "tagesstarke)
This is number of combat units (rifle, tank, artillery, engineer and anti-aircraft) without army/front rear/supply troops.
Steppefront:449133
It was behind Central and Voronezh fronts.

German:
100 Panzer Mark IVs
May 43 - 272
June 43 - 253
July 43 - 244
August 43 - 283
50 Panthers
162 / 160 / 202 / 120
25 Tigers
50 / 60 / 65 / 60
Soviet:
1,000 T-34 medium tanks
~1 300 / 995 / 1 302 /1 333
1,000 KV heavy tanks
75 / 30 / 52 / 61
It is safe to assume that the Germans at Kursk have the following:
280 Tigers
560 Panthers
1,120 Panzer Mark IV tanks
300 captured T-34s, disguised as German tanks
90 Ferdinand assault guns...at Model's sector
350 other assault guns

that's why I said :it's depending on what one is counting
I don't know how much the Steppe Front was engaged, and if,how much one could include the Steppe Front in the Russian Strength .

If Model adapted the tactics of Montgomery in El Alamein, he might have reached Kursk with the used of 500 mine detectors, 88,755 lamps, 9 infantry, 3 armored divisions & 1 infantry brigade under the command of 3 corps HQs & 1 army HQ totaling 200,000 troops. While in the south, the Germans used for the first time 6,000 Panzerfaust bazookas, 100 Nebelwerfer rocket mortars, the Sturmgewehr assault rifles, the 'Goliath' demolition tanks, the 'Foot-Stuka' APCs...the Henschel ground attack aircraft & the FREYA radar set.

about the Tigers:followingZetterling and Frankson (Kursk,a statistical analysis) the number of Tigers was 146,and this is more credible :only 3 PD(LSSAH,DR,TK) and Pz Abt 503 and 505 had Tigers .

146 Tigers?
It refers only to the operational Tigers. During the battle of Kursk 147 Tigers were assembled, & by an almost superhuman effort over 120 were actually ready to fight. They acquired themselves well in battle, only 18 being lost. The Pz Abt 503 & 505 had '90 Porsche Ferdinand assault guns' in Tiger chassis deployed in Model's Ninth Army. All of them were lost due to Soviet Infantry actions. The elite Gross Deutschland Division had a battalion of Tiger tanks also.

Captured T-34 tanks?
The SS-Das Reich had 25 T-34 tanks as Panzer Jager...

from a post on AHF (by Chistoph Awender) I have the following Tiger distribution:
PG D GD :15
LSSAH :13
DR :14
Tot :15
Pz.Abt.505:31
Pz.Abt.503:45
1/Pz.Abt.502:14
These figures are for 1 july.
On the over 120 tigers:were these new Tigers,or'old ' ones that were damaged and repaired ?
If they were new ones, that should mean some 280 Tigers at Citadelle, but ,till 1 july 1943 only 292 Tigers were produced, and,if I am nor wrong, 8) ,some Tigers were engaged and lost in NA,others were lost in the East .

The 120 Tigers these were brand-new ones. The other 27 brand-new Tigers suffered mechanical problems...totaling 147 Tigers, I am correct.

May be 30? There were 26 T-34 in DR and 1 in 6 PD.

Yes, it should be '30 captured T-34s', not 300. Clerical error only. Thanks for the corrections.
