Dear All,
The defeat of General Konev's 2nd Ukrainian Front's offensive, aimed at capturing Targul Frumos and Iassi during May 1944, by Army Group Wohler has been quoted as being used by NATO as a wargame/training scenario (presumably in the 1960s or 1970s) as an exercise as to how to combat Soviet offensive strategy when faced with superior numbers of AFVs. Does anyone have any details or experience of this? Also I cannot remember what the source of this was - is it in Glantz's book 'Red Storm'?
Hope someone can help,
Cheers,
Steve Grethe

Colonel Glanzt work ''Red Storm Over The Balkans'' about the failed Soviet invasion of Romania in the spring of 1944 is a must read to learn a lot about that Eastern Front forgotten Battle.
