Yelets December 1941

Hi all. Does anyone have any info on the actions of the 45th and 95th infantry divisions around Yelets during the Soviet winter offensive in December 1941. Also the 56th infantry division which was sent to close the breach opened by Russian forces at the junction of the two divisions. Thanks in advance, regards Jaywol.

Thanks for the quick response. The detailed action reports of the 134th Inf Div are excellent. Shame some of the maps are in Russian, I will do my best to translate some of the place and unit names. Regards Jaywol.

I don't speak Russian. I would have to use a cyrillic alphabet and compare existing maps and OOB's to make sense of it. Not a quick process unfortunately. Regards Jaywol.

I was wondering how long the Germans held Yelets and from what dates. Also w henwas thie final liberation by the red Army? Thanks!

The town was captured by the Germans on 5 Dec 41. The Soviet 148th Rifle Division liberated it on 9 Dec 41.
