Hi Witzland,

Waffen-SS units played no indispensable role in any of Germany's major victories and won none themselves.

They effectively awarded medals to themselves on their own recommendations.

The Eastern Front was an ideological war. No wonder the Russians laid particular emphasis on the fate of divisions with names like "Liebstandarte Adolf Hitler", "Das Reich", etc.

Cheers,

Sid.

Instead of trying to answer an unanswerable question, how about this one:

What's your favorite German division of WWII?

You can look at my avatar to see what my answer is ...

Yours,
Paul

If the question is unanswerable, that mean there is still a lot of research to do about the different Wehrmacht Division.

It is an unanswerable question even after 100, 200 or 300 years of research.
