PzKpfw I Ausf C: what is this kind of roll?

Hello all,

I'm searching infos about the Panzerkampfwagen I Ausf C and I've got a question about a kind of roll near the front visor of the driver.

Look at this:

Do you know what is this roll and what is his usage?

In english : on your pics it's not a panzer I Ausf C, it's a Panzer II and not Ausf C, it's a model over G version.

In french : sur la photo ce n'est pas un Panzer I c'est un Panzer II d'une version superieure à la C : le train de roulement est celui du G du H et au dela

Yep I'm sure that's a PzKpfw I Ausf C. But I'm very curious to know what is this roll!

Isn't it a vent for river fording? The Panzer I had a snorkel tube vent looking thing for that purpose, didn't it?
