freya radars
Can someone give me some info on these mobile radars? Im not even sure they were called freya. I mean the radar they used at kursk. How common were they?
well I did a search for you, but none of the "Freya" models were mobile, but concrete stations.
Here is information on the Freya anyways:
Intended purpose: flight-announce and hunt-experience-turn out
Search area: 360o
Range: Fleightheight + range 50m 20km
100m 30km
1000m 60km
3000m 100km
8000m 120km
Distance measuring accuracy: ±150 m
Bearing accuracy: Page ± 0,5o
Large one: Height: 9 m; Width 6 m

oh...there was a mobile version called the "Wurzburg Riese Radar". I was told it was mobile at least by a few sources, but they are not reliable..here is the Wurzburg piece:

Search area: 360o ;height of turning of -5o to +95o
Range: look up 80 km; pinpoint 50 - 60 km
Distance measuring accuracy: ± 100 m
Bearing accuracy: ± 0,2o
Size: Height: 7.9 m; Width: 7.5 m

It was in Glantz battle of kursk p39 he called it the freya tactical radar.
