Planned infrared sights for FG42?

Post by charlie don't surf »

Were there any plans to equip FG42's with vampir infrared sights? What weapons were there infrared sight plans for?

Best regards/ Daniel

Before anyone else gets wound up, for God's sake, take a deep breath!
Don't let this degenerate like the damned Konigstiger/Panther fiasco! There's enough bickering and squabbling going on already! Stick to the query at hand. If you can answer authoritatively, great. If not, just go onto the next thread!

Carry on....

I believe in Senich's "German Sniper" book they show a pic of the MP44 with this rig on it, I'll look again and get back about the FG42. Later........................Bruce

I'm talking about plans, not realization. I have Senich's book.

Charlie!
I have one of the better books about the FG42: "Death from above -The German FG42 Paratroop Rifle" by Dugelby & Stevens (Collector Grade Publications, 147 pages).
Though there is a lot of information on the different versions, trial versions, sights and mountings, nothing is mentioned about any VAMPIR sights.
How are things otherwise? I've been busy moving (for good) to Lkg the last couple of weeks.
