Panther tank question

Post by JeffF. »

What is the cylinder on the side of the hull of the tank? I've been told it is an auxiliary fuel tank alternatively I've been told it is the container for the cleaning rod poles for the main gun.

It was the storage cylinder for the gun cleaning rods, on later models it was often moved to the rear of the engine deck running along the edge immediately above the exhausts.
