Panthers - First Models!

Post by tigre »

Hello to all :D; a little on this......................

Panthers - First models !.

Image
A brand new Pz Kw V "Panther" Ausf. D in the courtyard of the MAN factory (Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg); this model had communication port on the left side of the turret, smoke dischargers and two headlights .........................

Image
Another version of the Pz Kw V "Panther" Ausf. D; the communication port and smoke dischargers has been removed, also it carries a single headlight.................................

AFAIK the smoke dischargers were dropped because were activated by the impact of small caliber projectiles; on the other hand the communication port was removed because was a vulnerable sector on the side of the turret. Cheers. Raul M 8).

Interesting photo of this column, in the lead a version of the Pz Kw V "Panther" Ausf. From another forum: Regarding the previous photo, there are no side mounted equipment. That way they left the factories. These were installed by the Heeres-Waffenamt.
Most likely, the photo was taken at the end of summer 1943, in a shooting range of MAN or WaPrüf ....................
