Austrian vehicles in German service.

Post by tigre »

Hello to all :D; several Austrian designs were utilized by the German Armed Forces after the annexation ...............

The ADMK-WARK (Austro Daimler Motorkarette -Wehrmacht-Aufbau, Räder-Ketten).

The project of this model began in 1933 and then from 1935 onwards started its production. Some 334 units of this vehicle were manufactured by the Austro-Daimler company for the Austrian army between 1935-1938. The vehicle could be used on wheels, as half-track or fully tracked. The vehicle was adopted unchanged by the Wehrmacht after the annexation by Germany in 1938.

As a complement WARK means produced for the Wehrmacht, wheel-track. This vehicle was used by the mountain troops and was widely used during the campaign in Norway.

That hardly counts as it was designed and produced a long time (relatively speaking) after Austria ceased to exist as an independent country.

Hello to all :D; a little more...............

Saurer RR-7 (Sd.Kfz. 254 - Gepanzerter Beobachtungskraftwagen).

Conceived and built as artillery tractor for the Austrian army by the firm Saurerwerke AG. At the time of the annexation by Germany only 12 were built. In May 1938 the Heereswaffenamt commissioned a new project for a wheeled and tracked vehicle. The company introduced the RR-7 with improvements and was used by the mechanized artillery units as observation vehicle being called as Sd. Kfz. 254 (128 units were built) ................
