Panzerbusche 39
Is "Panzerbusche 39" the correct designation for the early war hand held anti tank device?
Thanks. Dave.

Re: Panzerbusche 39
Hello David,
The correct designation would be "Panzerbüchse 39"... if your keyboard does not have the "ü" you can also write "Panzerbuechse 39"

Christoph.
How quick was that!
Thanks.
How many would have been allocated to a Schuetzen Battalion in 1941/2?

David, you could go out on a limb and call it an Anti-Tank Rifle if you wanted, although I have a Panzer video in which the translator doing the voice over keeps calling it a "Tank Can" due to two menaings for the German "Büchse"David W wrote:Is "Panzerbusche 39" the correct designation for the early war hand held anti tank device?

Nice one Alan!
I actually deliberately held back as I thought that there was a 2.8cm weapon also called "Panzerbuesche" which would have been more of an A/T gun than A/T rifle.

Regarding the Panzerbuesche 39: how many were issued to the Schuetzen Battalions of 1941?
Thanks. Dave.

Hello David,
The standard for most infantry companies was one "Panzerbüchsentrupp with 3 rifles". You just have to multiply that with the companies in a battalion. That of course varied in time and some special organised divisions. But with the standard setup of three companies and a machinegun company that would be 9 rifles.

Thank you Christoph, a very clear answer.
And presumably none in a machine gun battalion?

Hello David,
After Poland the machinegun battalions were reorganised. The new organisation had to be finished until 15.February 1940 and had 9 Pz.B. in its organisation.
