Chaplains NOT weapon bearers?

I came across the following statement regarding the Pfarrer in the Bundeswehr. Could anyone confirm if this was also the case in the Wehrmacht? (i.e. chaplains never carried weapons and didnt hold rank of officer)


Erstaunt waren die Schülerinnen und Schüler über die Information, dass die Militärpfarrer in Deutschland im Gegensatz zu ihren Kollegen bei den amerikanischen Streitkräften grundsätzlich keine Waffen tragen und keinen Dienst an der Waffe leisten. Sie haben auch keinen militärischen Rang und sind nicht, wie die amerikanischen Militärpfarrer, Offiziere der Streitkräfte. Militärpfarrer sind keine Soldaten, so Weßler.

Yes, that was the case for chaplains serving in the front. My question was in regards to wearing the Offiziersdolch, which I have found out they didnt
