I'm about to add an armoured car (234/2 Puma) to a KampfGruppe Peiper diorama. Peiper left some of these behind in the La Gleize area in Dec 1944.
Is anybody able to suggest which camouflage scheme was used on these in this setting ? Also can anyone suggest which numbers/decals would fit in ?

Hello
"Redbrown tiger stripes on sandcoloured base" is how Pallud describes the pattern of one 234/2 in La Gleize (in a Osprey book on Skorzeny and KG Peiper). Seemingly, he has consulted a photograph as a source and the location is near Panther 002 (which itself was lost close to the Maison Communale). If so, the pic must be extremly elusive, so elusive that some people doubt the photo really exists. There is no word on numbering. At least in Normandy, it seems that Pumas belonged to a 2. Zug of the Stabskompanie, it could be that no turret numbers were displayed however or that they had been painted out because the 234/2 with the unit at this time were likely to be Normandy survivors. In consistency with an order that must have been issued prior to the offensive, the SS runes would have been painted out on the licence plate.
Cheers
Hans

Re: SdKfz 234/2 Puma - Ardennes 1944 Camouflage
On pages 216 & 217 in the book “Duel in the Mist 2”, there are excellent details and mention that in fact no Pumas made it to La Gleize. Arguing that what was likely to have happened instead, including one Puma that took a wrong turn.
Instead the vehicles at La Gleize were 2 x 234/1 and 1 x 234/3. A book well worth getting hold of.
