Just looking on the Jagdtiger web-site.

The sheer scale of the 'Maus' is incredible. Can anyone confirm that the Maus never fired its weapons in anger and if anyone does, then why wasnt this incredible weapon at least used to slow down the Red tide in 44-45.

I don't think the Maus was manufactured in any quantity, in fact someone has said that only a handful were ever made, and this was in the very late stages of the war. I also heard it had Soviet markings on it as well.

One working Maus was completed and one hull(without turret). The 'complete' Maus was blown up and the Russians put the turret from this destroyed example on the other hull to make up the machine now on display in Kubinka. The completed Maus had a hammer and sicle painted on its side to 'disguise' it as a captured Russian tank. No known evidence to suggest that the Maus saw any combat.

Herr Gauletier Guillermo, well, it's good to know that I wasn't the only one who viewed that line with skepticism. In my case, it wasn't because I believed or didn't believe that the ammo still worked, I simply wondered who would risk damaging a 50 year old recovered machinegun by finding out?
