The 'phantom' scopes: Zf42 and Zf39. Any info?

Post by red » Tue Dec 03, 2002 1:58 am

I keep seeing on various sites about German sniper rifles mentions about Zf39 and Zf 42 (5x scope) being used with the KAR98K rifle in the sniper role. However, when i try to find details about them (including pictures), it is impossible. All i get is Dyalitan, Zf41,Zf4, Kahles, etc. On another specialised forum, no one even heard of a Zf 42. Can someone clear these out? (btw , i tried even on auction sites, but no effect)

Thank you,

Radu.

Zf 42 had a 5x magnification and Zf 39 had a 4x magnification.

red,
Perhaps the "Zf42" is mistaken for the "ZFG42" (Voigtländer, 5X) for the "D" and "E" type FG42?
Just an educated guess...

You might be right, but they keep saying that a certain ZF42 5x scope was used on the KAR98K rifles. I saw that on many sites. (it's also true they copy/pasted the text from one to another in some cases)

Thank you.
