Female POW

Post by Joolz »

There is a small reference in "It Never Snows in September" by R J Kershaw to German female auxiliaries being withdrawn from Holland during 1944 due to the advance of the allies. Nevertheless, at least one female was captured by the British at Arnhem and at least one killed during the fighting. Does anyone know what happened at Stalingrad please? I understand that 1/4 million of Germans were captured. Had the women been pulled back at that stage or were any taken prisoner please? If so, what happened to them please?

Thanks
Jules

hi, there is a thread on Axis history forum on this, called "Captured Auxilaries used as sex slaves?" Unfortunately I lost the URL now. For more info, a few days before the war ended fortunately Donitz discharged all female auxilaries, so they wouldn't be taken as prisoners accoring to international law. But those who were captured before that were used as sex slaves by the Red army..... :x just my 2 cents.... :D
