Is this a good book, I'm thinking about buying it but know practically nothing about it. It seems that he has onl written this book.

It's a decent book. I've seen other books of the same series on the Liebstandarte and Totenkopf. They are full of good pictures, but the text is not of the depth that I would have liked, nor does it contain many personal accounts.

James Lucas's "Das Reich" is better, IMO, although it doesn't paint a complete portrait of the division in any way (he skips completely over Oradour-sur-Glane). Between the Lucas book and information available online, you should be able to get a good understanding of 2.SS.

I'd like to pick up Weidinger's "DF" book one of these days, myself.

Thanks Abwehr! I got Battle Group by Lucas and it's pretty good, it's a bit sad with the books being in pocket format altough.
