What is an alarmbattalion? In an operation against polish insurgents in the Kampinos forrest, germans used three alarmbattalions;

*Alarmbattalion 'H.G.'
*Alarmbattalion 'SS-Totenkopf'
*Alarmbattalion 'SS-Wiking'

I think the Alarmbataillon was a secure batallion usually, guarding rear areas and such.
Pretty much like Sicherungs-Kompanie (security company).

These were usually units thrown together to meet an immediate need. They weren't always infantrymen, either. They were thrown together normally from rear area units to meet an immediate need, such as partisans, parachutists, or something like that.
