Which was the first SS units to see action against US troops after D-Day 6th june?
I think it was the recon units of 17th SS on the 10th and more of the division on 11th.
Can anyone add more detail or suggest an SS unit that got into action sooner against the Americans?

According to Anthony Beevor, it took 17 days for 2. SS PD. to get to the front.
First units of the 17. SS-Pz.Gren.Div. started moving from their bases Southwards of the river Loire on the 7th June and actually met the Americans in the morning of the 9th, though their Recco units were very near the U.S. 1st Inf. in the evening of the 8th of June near Forêt de Cerisy, without knowing that.
No signs of the 2. SS-Pz.Div. "Das Reich" for a couple of weeeks.
