Are there any books that deal with the Waffen-SS combat activities in the Stettin-Altdamm area?

A few pages

Hi Hannes

There's a couple of pages in Tieke's "Tragödie um die Treue", (Munin Verlag, 1968), pgs. 189-197 -Brückenkopf Altdamm. (In the English version "Tradegy of the Faithful" (Fedorowicz, 2001), its on pgs. 255-264.) Not much, but perhaps a start.

All the best

In the book "Vlamingen aan het Oostfront"(Flammen an Ostfront) part 2, there is a chapter written over the battle.

Reading the book for the 4th time - "In the FireStorm of the Last Years of the War" by Wilhelm Tieke. A book about II. SS-PanzerKorps with the 9th and 10 SS Pz Dv (Hohenstaufen and Frundsberg). There are a couple of chapters that refer to these unit's commitments in these areas but also mention other actions of SS Units and some predominant commanders of those units. Some SS units mentioned in small amounts are

9th SS "Hohenstaufen"
10th SS "Frundsberg"
4th SS "Polizeidivision"
28th SS "Wallonien"
III. (germ.) SS-PanzerKorps and elements
27th SS "Langemarck"
11th SS "Nordland"
23rd SS "Nederland"

Just remember that this book concentrates on the 9th and 10th SS Pz Dv...but it is interesting all the same.

Hope this helps

Jan,

Sind Sie richtig. Meine Entschuldigungen. Der 9 SS war nicht an Altamm.. Ich wurde Beantworten eine Frage aufgeregt. Nicht zu schlecht, war ich 90 Prozentrechte.

Scott

(Jan you are correct. My apologies. The 9 SS was not at Altamm... I got excited answering a question. Not too bad, I was 90 percent right.)

Hi Scott
Gehörte die Festung Stettin auch noch zum Brückenkopf Altdamm?
Did the fortress Stettin also still belong to the bridgehead Altdamm?

Jan,

I dont think so...not listed in the order of battle. Other formations in Bridgehead that I can see were:

Panzerjagerbrigade 104
Fuhrer-Grenadier-Brigade
elements of 281 Inf Div (arriving from Godingen)
elements of 163 Inf Div (arriving from Finland)
