twin gun mounts

Just curious, as a general rule, did German naval twin mounts ( six inch guns and larger ) elevate as a unit or individually?

Surely they would have to elevate/descend independently so that they could be loaded/reloaded?

One would think so but I have read (and I regret I can't remember the source) that some naval cannon were mounted on a single trunnion to ease manufacture.
